about

Andraus sounds like Van Halen if Eddie and Alex grew up listening to Metallica, the Melvins, and, well, Van Halen. It makes sense since brothers Andrew and Austin Cox (drums and guitar, respectively) are also from Pasadena, California, home of the cheeseburger, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and occult rocket scientist Jack Parsons. Perhaps Parsons' rituals opened a dimensional gateway before he died in that garage explosion. Maybe time and space stretched and condensed to combine these elements (Van Halen, ground beef, jet engines, occult magic, garage explosion) into the obliterating maelstrom of Andraus. It's the sound of precisely controlled chaos. A jet-fueled mathemagical meat grinder running with the devil (ah-haaah, yeah!).

Andraus winds its way through doomed thrash metal and dark interludes, occasionally pretty, and always heavy . The crunch and shred of the guitars weave through the rumble and crash of the drums. The technical tumult of "Ignition" gives way to the somber buildup of "Beneath Ash and Trees" before bursting high on fire on "Getaway." From there it's a dark escalation to maiden riffs on "Beast Heart." The complicated pummel of "Hammer Fight" smashes into the triumphant sludge of "Silver Salute." The album thrashes to a devastating conclusion on "Passage to Hell."

Andrew and Austin Cox were raised on a remote resort full of dilapidated buildings before moving to Pasadena. The band has played with Old Man Gloom, Big Business, Coliseum, Behold... The Arctopus, and more. Andrew has worked for Hydra Head Records for eight years, directing videos for Torche and Helms Alee, while Austin has been at home shredding guitar most of that time. Andrew also plays solo as Axed Crown. Austin played "Eruption" by Van Halen note for note before he graduated high school.
